Play to Learn is a storytime & playgroup co-hosted by Carthage Public Library & Early Beginnings. 

Spend quality time with your child and connect with other parents/caregivers in the area. Listen to stories, learn songs, games and activities to support your young child’s development.Olders siblings may attend

Sign Language Basics at the Library

A presentation on the basics of American Sign Language will be given by Tammy Kost, Itinerant Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing at the West Central Illinois Special Education Cooperation. Attendees will learn some basic signs.

Prior to the presentation there will be a brief discussion of the middle grade books El Deafo by Cece Bell and Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick . Copies of both books will be available at the library by January 8. You do not need to read either of these books to attend.

Refreshments will be provided. This program is appropriate for middle/high school and adult patrons.

IMPACT @ Carthage Library

IMPACT is a weekly event held on Monday from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm for Middle and High School students.

Students have the opportunity to choose activites, such as cooking, science experiments, and various STEAM activities. ( science, technology, Art, and  Math) IMPACT group members may come anytime throughout the event and do not have to attend regularly or sign up to join. A sign in sheet is available during each session.

Students participating in Impact may also assist Library Staff in planning and decorating for events.

IMPACT will break during Christmas Eve and New Years Eve rusuming Janurary 7th.
