"Illinois Prairies" Presentation

In honor of the Illinois Bicentennial, Carthage Public Library is sponsoring a program called, "Illinois Prairies - A Sense of Place."  The event will be held at the First Baptist Church, 601 Main St., Carthage at 6:30 pm on Monday, May 7. 

The program will be presented by retired Professor Charles Schweighauser, formerly with the University of Illinois Springfield, and will include a DVD about the prairie lands, "a feast of sights and sounds which captures the prairie spirit" that includes the voices of several Illinois poets including Master, Bryant, Lindsay, and Sandburg.

The program is free of charge and appropriate for middle school and high school students as well as adults.  Refreshments will be served.

IMPACT @ Carthage Library

IMPACT is a weekly event held on Monday from 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm for Middle and High School students.

Students have the opportunity to choose activites, such as cooking, science experiments, and various STEAM activities. ( science, technology, Art, and  Math) IMPACT group members may come anytime throughout the event and do not have to attend regularly or sign up to join. A sign in sheet is available during each session.

Students participating in Impact may also assist Library Staff in planning and decorating for events.

IMPACT will break during Christmas Eve and New Years Eve rusuming Janurary 7th.

IMPACT- A Group for middle and High School students to explore STEAM ( Science, technology, engenering, art, and math.) Students have the opportunity to plan and design activities for individuals and the group.
