The school districts maintain their web sites very well, so we won't try to duplicate any of their efforts. Please use the links below to get the latest school news!

The Carthage Elementary School District is a consolidated district of Carthage and area towns. There are currently two attendance centers:

  • Carthage Primary (the Elementary Wing at High School) has Special Ed students and preK-4, Principal Ryanne Nason (217) 357-9202
  • Carthage Middle School (formerly Central Elementary, formerly Scofield Grade School) (grades 5-8), Principal TBD (217) 357-3914

The school district's superintendent, Dustin Day, can be contacted via the Carthage Elementary School District #317 Superintendent's Office, 210 S. Adams Street, at 217-357-3922.

High School

Illini West High School was formed in 2006 as a convergence of Carthage, Dallas City, and LaHarpe high school districts, the first of its kind in Illinois. The school district officially started on July 1, 2007, after many months of hard work and preparation by the 3 former districts, Principal Brad Gooding (217) 357-2136

The Carthage School District Foundation was established in the mid-90's with the goal of creating a source of extra funds for the school district, for use by parents, teachers, and students.

The district is very active in sports and extra-curricular academics. You can find examples of this at the district pages, as the students help them evolve.

Carthage College is a wonderful Liberal Arts College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It started in the late 1870's right here in Carthage, IL.
