It’s opening day for the hidden gem of Carthage!
This impressive collection includes Civil War and Indian artifacts, fashion items circa 1840-1920, fossils, rocks, geodes and other historic Hancock County artifacts. The majority of the collection was generously donated by Dr. Alice Kibbe.
Also found in the museum are the Funeral Customs display. This world-class collection documents the material and social history of the mortuary profession and American funeral customs. Visitors will revel in the “Lincoln: Making of the Man” display and marvel at the miniature replication of Lincoln’s funeral procession.
