Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Joe & Helen Grate Sports Complex

Carthage Park District to hold Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and the kickoff of new recreational equipment use program

Carthage, IL – The Carthage Park District would like to invite the community to come out to the Joe and Helen Grate Sports Complex on Center St. for the Carthage Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony. This event will be held on Sunday, November 6th starting at 12:00 noon where we will be showcasing several new features of the park.

First, we will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the newly installed playground area where citizens can see our new play area that features newly installed swings, a double tower playset along with the kid’s favorite fire truck that was recently refurbished by the Lions Club. Community members can also see the updates that have been made to Jake Burling Field and the progress on the new Jett Brown Field.

We will also be announcing our new recreational equipment use program which will allow the public to check out sports equipment and yard games to use at family gatherings, parties, campouts, or just for backyard game night. Special thanks go to K.E.Y. Hancock County for their assistance with this program.

During the event, we will be serving free food and drink and after the presentations, citizens will be able to try out some of the games and sports equipment and learn more about the games and how to access the equipment. The schedule will be as follows:

Sunday, November 7th – 12:00 – 2:00

12:15 – Playground Ribbon Cutting

12:30 – Recreational Equipment and Games Use Program Announcement

12:45 – 2:00 – Yard Games and Sports Equipment Demonstrations and Free Play

Free food and drink available throughout the event.
