West Central Illinois Master Naturalists Workday at Carthage Park District

On Saturday, November 11, a group of West Central IL Master Naturalists will be attending a workday at Carthage Park District property. The group will be doing various activities including invasive species removal, species identification and corridor clearing for the
Carthage Lake Trail project. Portions of the trail corridor have been initially cleared but need some additional work to have access for the final surfacing. Along the trail there is a need to remove several species of invasive growth including bush honeysuckle and autumn olive.
Along with the physical work of clearing, a group of naturalists will also be identifying species of trees and plants that will be tagged and mapped as this trail is not only for recreation but for outdoor education as well.
