12:00 am | Geode Fest & Rock Show |

Geodes have long been objects of curiosity, their sparkling interiors containing some of the most beautiful crystals to be found anywhere in the Midwest. Although geodes are known from many localities around the world, one of the most productive and famous collecting regions is encompassed within a 35-mile radius of Keokuk, Iowa. Since 2005, Hamilton, Illinois, located across the Mississippi River from Keokuk, has been holding Geode Fest. Geode enthusiasts from across the country come to this three-day event to hunt for geodes on guided hunts. Some of these guided hunts are on private property, not normally open to the general public for geode hunting at any other time. There are daily prizes awarded for the "Prettiest", "Most Unusual", "Largest", "Smallest", "Oddest", "Rarest", "Ugliest" and a couple other categories. | ||
